City by City Towards Home Exhibition

Join Ola Znad, a Bahrain-raised urban designer and architect, as she revisits her roots in City by City Towards Home, a deeply personal exhibition shaped by memory, migration, and identity.

Hosted at Al Riwaq Art Space, the exhibition presents an intimate look into Znad’s research and creative journey centered around the Mudhif — a traditional communal guesthouse historically constructed from reed or papyrus in southern Iraq. A long-standing symbol of hospitality, community, and collective identity, the Mudhif becomes both subject and metaphor within her work.

Through drawings, research documentation, spatial exploration, and reflective storytelling, Znad explores how architecture carries memory across borders. The exhibition moves beyond physical structure, tracing how place, displacement, and heritage shape an evolving sense of belonging.

City by City Towards Home unfolds as both a cultural study and a personal narrative, inviting audiences to reflect on how home can be reconstructed through memory, material, and meaning.
