As the first morning light rises over Bahrain, the streets begin to move with a different kind of energy. Families dressed in crisp traditional attire make their way toward mosques and prayer grounds; greetings of “Eid Mubarak” echo between neighbours, and the scent of freshly prepared Arabic coffee drifts through homes preparing for one of the most meaningful celebrations in the Islamic calendar.

In the Kingdom of Bahrain, Eid al-Adha is more than a public holiday. It is a time when faith, generosity, tradition, and togetherness become part of everyday life in the most visible way.

From May 27 to May 29, Bahrain comes alive with the spirit of Eid al-Adha as families, businesses, and communities across the kingdom prepare for days centred around prayer, family gatherings, generosity, and celebration. Shopping destinations glow with festive decorations, homes welcome visiting relatives, and the atmosphere across the country feels warm, lively, and deeply connected.

Known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” Eid al-Adha commemorates the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim, whose willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of faith remains one of the most important stories in Islam. The holiday also coincides with the completion of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Makkah, connecting Bahrain’s celebrations with millions of Muslims worldwide.

The day begins early. Before sunrise, worshippers gather for special Eid prayers at mosques and open prayer grounds across the kingdom. From the heart of Manama to the neighbourhoods of Muharraq, Riffa, and Isa Town, the atmosphere feels deeply communal. Rows of worshippers stand side by side, reflecting the unity and equality that define the occasion.

After prayers, Bahrain shifts into celebration mode. Families spend the day visiting relatives, children receive gifts and Eidiya, and homes remain open to guests from morning until late at night. Dining tables fill with traditional Bahraini dishes prepared for large family gatherings, many of them recipes passed down through generations.

Among the favourites are machboos layered with fragrant spices and tender meat, grilled specialities served with saffron rice, and sweet treats like Bahraini halwa paired with gahwa. Dessert trays move from room to room as conversations continue for hours, blending laughter, memories, and stories shared between generations.

At the centre of Eid al-Adha is Qurbani, the ritual sacrifice carried out in remembrance of the Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion. In Bahrain, the tradition remains closely connected to charity and community care. Relatives, neighbours, and families in need receive portions of the meat, reinforcing the idea that celebration is shared with everyone.

Across the kingdom, charitable organisations and local initiatives become especially active during Eid. Volunteers organise food distributions, donations, and outreach programmes to help ensure that every family takes part in the celebrations. It reflects how generosity remains deeply rooted in Bahraini culture and everyday life.

The festive atmosphere also extends into public spaces. Shopping malls, city streets, and waterfront destinations light up with decorative displays, crescent moon installations, and festive lighting welcoming residents and visitors alike. Popular destinations such as The Avenues and City Centre in Bahrain host family activities, entertainment shows, and seasonal events throughout the holiday period.

At the same time, Eid in Bahrain continues to evolve with modern lifestyles. Younger generations balance tradition with contemporary celebrations that include café gatherings, beach outings, staycations, and late-night meetups with friends and family. Even with the changing pace of life, the heart of Eid remains unchanged.

That balance is part of what makes Eid al-Adha in Bahrain feel so special. The kingdom’s modern skyline and fast-moving lifestyle never overshadow the more profound meaning behind the celebration. Instead, Eid serves as a reminder of the values that continue to shape Bahraini society: faith, compassion, hospitality, and strong family ties.

Visitors experiencing Eid in Bahrain immediately notice the warmth. Hospitality feels natural and effortless. Invitations arrive easily, meals are shared generously, and even casual encounters carry a sense of kindness that reflects the spirit of the holiday itself.

More than the decorations or celebrations, Eid al-Adha in Bahrain is ultimately about people. It is about reconnecting with family, supporting the community, and slowing down long enough to appreciate the relationships that matter most.

As Bahrain celebrates Eid al-Adha from May 27 to May 29, 2026, the kingdom once again moves together in a shared spirit of faith, gratitude, and unity, creating an atmosphere that feels both deeply personal and beautifully collective.

Bahrain has officially finalized preparations for Eid Al Adha prayers across the Kingdom, with worshippers set to gather at designated prayer grounds and mosques at 5:05 am on Wednesday, May 27.

Shaikh Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed bin Futais Al Hajri confirmed that all official Eid prayer grounds across Bahrain’s governorates are fully prepared to receive worshippers, following extensive coordination between government entities, municipalities, maintenance teams, and religious authorities.

According to the announcement, the Sunni Endowments Council formed a dedicated prayer grounds committee that identified and organized all major Eid prayer locations throughout the Kingdom. Special arrangements were also made for expatriate communities, with additional prayer venues allocated at several schools across Bahrain.

A total of 18 main Eid prayer grounds have been designated this year, covering areas including Hidd, Galali, Arad, Diyar Al Muharraq, Muharraq, Busaiteen, Salmaniya, Riffa, Hajiyat, Askar, Zallaq, Hamad Town, Budaiya, Salman City, and New Ramli Housing.

Among the key locations announced are the Eid prayer ground in East Hidd at Al Julaiah neighbourhood, the large Eid prayer ground complex in Diyar Al Muharraq near Al Baraha Souq, the North Riffa prayer ground near Al Istiqlal Walkway, and the Salman City prayer ground located at the northern square of Salman City Coast.

To streamline attendance and centralize worshippers in the designated open prayer grounds, several nearby mosques will temporarily close during Eid prayers.

What was once known as Al Areen Wildlife Park now carries a new name following a Royal Bahraini decree, officially becoming the Mohammed bin Zayed Nature Reserve. But inside the park, one of its most peaceful landmarks continues telling a story that stretches far beyond Bahrain’s borders. 🇧🇭🇯🇵

Hidden within the wildlife park is a Japanese-style garden built to celebrate the friendship between Bahrain and Japan. Opened in 2015, the garden was created after the 2012 visit of His Majesty King Hamad to Japan, with the project developed by Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) as a symbol of cultural connection and diplomacy.

The space blends traditional Japanese landscaping with Bahraini surroundings, creating a calm escape filled with symbolic details. Visitors can walk across bright red bridges, pass bamboo fences and stone lanterns, and explore turtle and crane islands inspired by classic Japanese garden design. Every element was carefully placed to reflect peace, balance, and unity between the two countries.

Despite Bahrain’s desert landscape, the garden feels naturally connected to its surroundings rather than separate from them. It stands as a reminder that cultural exchange can live through architecture, public spaces, and shared artistic vision, not just official meetings and agreements.

Now under the newly renamed Mohammed bin Zayed Wildlife Park, the garden continues to attract visitors looking for something quieter and more reflective inside one of Bahrain’s best-known nature destinations. It remains one of the park’s most underrated spots, offering a rare mix of history, diplomacy, design, and nature all in one place.

Some places are loud with history. This one speaks softly and people still stop to listen.

For many visitors, the garden feels less like a tourist attraction and more like a pause button, a calm space where architecture, nature, and international friendship quietly meet.

This is the kind of spot people walk past once… then immediately stop to take photos of.

Air quality across the world is constantly changing, and the difference between the cleanest and…

Air quality across the world is constantly changing, and the difference between the cleanest and most polluted cities can shift within just a few hours. According to live data tracked by IQAir, pollution rankings are updated in real time using measurements that combine particulate matter, ozone levels, and other airborne pollutants into a single Air Quality Index score.

The latest readings, pulled at 3 p.m. EST on May 17, captured a snapshot of conditions at that exact moment but experts note that the rankings are never static. Wildfire smoke, traffic congestion, industrial emissions, weather inversions, and seasonal agricultural burning can rapidly change the air people breathe throughout the day.

Cities that wake up with relatively clean air can climb into dangerous pollution levels by evening, while heavily polluted areas may temporarily improve depending on wind movement and weather conditions. The volatility highlights how closely air quality is tied to both human activity and environmental factors.

The issue remains a global concern. According to the World Health Organization, around 99 percent of the world’s population lives in areas where air pollution exceeds recommended safety guidelines. Long-term exposure to polluted air has been linked to respiratory disease, cardiovascular conditions, and reduced overall quality of life.

The cleanest cities on most days typically share similar traits: lower industrial activity, strict emissions policies, greener infrastructure, and natural wind circulation that helps disperse pollutants. Meanwhile, the world’s most polluted cities often face the opposite combination, intensified by dense traffic, industrial concentration, and climate conditions that trap harmful particles closer to the ground.

As real-time monitoring technology continues to expand, platforms like IQAir are giving people a clearer picture of how quickly environmental conditions can change and how critical long-term sustainability measures have become for cities worldwide.

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities is marking International Museum Day 2026 with a week-long cultural programme designed to bring communities together through history, art, and shared experiences. Running from May 16 to 23, the initiative is held under this year’s global theme, “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” highlighting the role museums play as trusted public spaces that connect people across generations and cultures.

Activities will take place across several of Bahrain’s leading cultural institutions, including the Bahrain National Museum, Qal’at Al-Bahrain Site Museum, and the Post Office Museum. The programme also features participation from the Kanoo Museum as part of a wider collaboration between the public and private sectors to strengthen Bahrain’s cultural landscape.

Visitors can expect guided tours, lectures, workshops, and interactive activities tailored for children, families, students, and art enthusiasts. One of the programme’s key highlights is the ongoing exhibition, “His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa: Life and Legacy,” currently hosted at the Bahrain National Museum until July 31. Guests will also have the opportunity to join guided tours of the 52nd Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition, offering a closer look at Bahrain’s contemporary creative scene.

The programme further expands internationally through a collaboration between BACA and the Zayed National Museum. As part of the initiative, the Bahrain National Museum will host “Zayed National Museum: Celebrating the Ancient Ties Between Magan and Dilmun,” an exhibition exploring the historical links between ancient Bahrain and the UAE.

Meanwhile, Kanoo Museum will spotlight Bahrain’s cultural memory through panel discussions, visual arts sessions, and workshops focused on traditional crafts and Manama’s evolving identity. With museums transforming into interactive cultural hubs for the week, the programme positions Bahrain’s heritage sector at the center of community engagement and regional dialogue.

Bahrain marked International Nurses Day on May 12 with nationwide recognition for nurses serving across hospitals, clinics, healthcare centers, and medical institutions throughout the Kingdom. 🇧🇭🩺

The annual observance was highlighted by messages of appreciation from healthcare authorities, hospitals, and medical professionals who acknowledged the contribution of nurses to Bahrain’s healthcare system and community wellbeing. Public and private healthcare institutions across Manama, Muharraq, Riffa, Isa Town, and other areas of the Kingdom joined the occasion by honoring nursing staff working in emergency care, intensive care units, surgery departments, rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, and specialized medical facilities.

Healthcare workers and officials emphasized the role nurses play in patient care, medical support, and frontline response operations. The occasion also recognized the long hours, dedication, and emotional commitment nurses continue to provide while supporting patients and families across all stages of treatment and recovery.

Several institutions used the day to organize appreciation events, internal recognition programs, and awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of the nursing profession in maintaining healthcare standards across Bahrain. Social media campaigns and public tributes were also shared throughout the day, with organizations thanking nurses for their professionalism, compassion, and resilience.

International Nurses Day is observed globally every year on May 12 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, whose work helped shape modern nursing practices worldwide. The annual observance serves as a global reminder of the impact nurses have on healthcare systems and patient outcomes.

As Bahrain continues expanding healthcare services and medical infrastructure, nurses remain one of the most essential pillars of the Kingdom’s healthcare sector, supporting hospitals, communities, and patients every day.
