More destinations are officially back on the map as Gulf Air continues expanding its international network with another wave of resumed flights across Europe and Asia.

The national carrier has announced the third phase of its scheduled flight resumptions, with services returning to Manchester, Rome, Guangzhou, and Singapore starting from mid-May. The latest rollout pushes Gulf Air’s operational network to 40 active destinations worldwide, representing approximately 74% of the airline’s full global route map.

The expansion marks another major milestone in the airline’s ongoing recovery strategy as international travel demand continues rising across multiple markets. The resumed routes reconnect Bahrain with key business, tourism, and transit hubs, while also giving travelers more direct flight options and smoother regional and international connections.

The return of Manchester and Rome strengthens Gulf Air’s European footprint, while Guangzhou and Singapore reinforce links to major Asian destinations known for business, trade, tourism, and aviation connectivity. The move also reflects wider momentum across the regional aviation sector, with airlines steadily restoring suspended routes and rebuilding pre-expansion travel capacity.

For Bahrain, the growing route network further boosts international accessibility and supports the Kingdom’s position as a regional travel and transit hub. Increased connectivity is also expected to benefit tourism, commerce, and outbound travel demand as summer travel activity begins accelerating across the Gulf region.

As more destinations continue returning to operation, Gulf Air’s latest expansion signals a faster-paced recovery phase for Bahrain’s national carrier and a broader return of global travel movement across international markets.

Bahrain’s national carrier, Gulf Air, has officially entered a new chapter in aviation technology after successfully operating its first-ever Starlink-powered flight over Bahrain. ✈️🇧🇭

The milestone marks a major upgrade to the airline’s onboard digital experience, introducing ultra-high-speed satellite internet that allows passengers to stay connected from takeoff to landing. Through the new Starlink system, travelers can browse the internet, stream content, use messaging apps, and stay productive in the air with seamless connectivity throughout the journey.

The launch places Gulf Air among a growing number of international airlines adopting next-generation inflight internet technology as passenger expectations continue shifting toward uninterrupted digital access while traveling. The move also reflects Bahrain’s broader push toward innovation, smart infrastructure, and advanced technology integration across multiple sectors.

Passengers onboard the historic flight experienced complimentary access to the service, giving travelers a glimpse into what future Gulf Air journeys may look like as the airline modernizes its fleet experience. The introduction of Starlink-powered connectivity is expected to significantly improve inflight convenience, particularly for business travelers, frequent flyers, and passengers on longer regional and international routes.

The achievement represents another milestone for Gulf Air as the airline continues enhancing passenger experience while strengthening Bahrain’s position in regional aviation innovation.

Bahrain Pass Airport Services is officially expanding beyond the Kingdom with the launch of Pass Saudi Arabia, marking a major regional milestone for the Bahrain-based aviation company.

The newly launched regional arm will be headquartered in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province and will focus on aircraft ground handling services. The expansion builds on years of operational experience gained at Bahrain International Airport, where the company has strengthened its expertise in aviation support operations and airport services.

The move comes as Saudi Arabia continues rapidly expanding its aviation and tourism sectors under large-scale national development plans, creating growing demand for airport operations, aircraft handling, and technical aviation services across the Kingdom.

In addition to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain Pass Airport Services is also exploring future opportunities in Oman. Current studies include possible investments in aircraft maintenance and technical inspection services, alongside plans connected to operating rights across several Saudi airports.

The regional expansion highlights the increasing role of Bahrain-based companies within the Gulf aviation industry as countries across the region continue investing heavily in air transport infrastructure, airport development, and international connectivity.

With operations now extending beyond Bahrain, Pass Saudi Arabia signals the company’s next step toward becoming a wider Gulf aviation services player.

The causeway remains one of the busiest crossings in the Gulf, and an additional route can help distribute movement more efficiently.

The plan also aligns with Bahrain’s broader push into maritime transport. In 2025, a passenger ferry service between Bahrain and Qatar was introduced, offering a faster alternative to traditional travel routes.

Further details, including timelines and operations, are expected to be announced as the project develops. For now, the approval sets the direction for a more flexible transport network between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Gulf Air has announced the launch of limited special flights to and from Bahrain via Dammam, Saudi Arabia, providing an alternative travel route for eligible passengers while the Kingdom’s airspace remains temporarily closed.

The special operations will connect passengers between Bahrain and three major international destinations — Bangkok, London Heathrow, and Mumbai — through King Fahd International Airport in Dammam starting Wednesday, March 11.

The move comes as aviation authorities continue monitoring regional developments that led to the precautionary closure of Bahrain’s airspace earlier this week.

Travel plans across the Gulf have been shifting quickly over the past week, and Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air has rolled out a flexible option for passengers whose trips may be affected.

The airline announced that travelers holding tickets with original travel dates until 21 March 2026 can either request a full refund or rebook their flights free of charge. The new travel window allows passengers to move their journeys to any Gulf Air-operated flight up to 15 May 2026.

The move comes as aviation across the Middle East continues to adjust to regional tensions and temporary airspace disruptions, which have forced airlines to modify schedules and offer flexible booking options to thousands of travelers.

How passengers can make changes

Passengers who booked directly with Gulf Air can manage their booking in two simple ways:

Rebooking: Call the airline’s global contact centre at +973 1737 3737.

Refund requests: Submit a request through the Gulf Air mobile app using the Manage My Booking section.

Travelers who booked through a travel agent should contact their agent directly to arrange either a rebooking or refund.

Keep your booking details updated

Gulf Air is also advising passengers to check that their contact details are updated in their reservations. This ensures that travelers receive real-time notifications about schedule changes, flight updates, or travel options.

For many passengers across the region, flexibility is becoming essential. Airlines throughout the Gulf have been introducing similar rebooking and refund options as the aviation industry adapts to changing airspace conditions and evolving travel plans.
