Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced a strategic partnership with French investment company TRAIL, marking a significant step in Bahrain’s efforts to expand investment opportunities in emerging global industries.

The announcement was made at the Choose France Summit in the presence of His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, and His Excellency Nicolas Forissier, Member of Parliament and Representative of the Indre Department in France.

Investing in the SLAM Economy

As part of the partnership, Mumtalakat has become an investor in the SLAM Fund, the world’s first private equity fund dedicated to sport, luxury, arts, and music. The fund focuses on sectors that are increasingly shaping global consumer trends, culture, and economic growth.

The collaboration combines TRAIL’s expertise in these industries with Mumtalakat’s regional reach to support the development of SLAM sectors in Bahrain and across the GCC. The partnership will also help drive regional expansion opportunities and capital-raising initiatives.

Supporting Bahrain’s Growth Vision

His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said the agreement reflects the strong economic relationship between Bahrain and France while supporting the Kingdom’s goals of attracting investment, fostering innovation, and advancing economic diversification.

His Excellency Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of Mumtalakat, noted that the partnership aligns with the fund’s strategy of investing in high-potential sectors that can contribute to long-term growth and value creation.

Meanwhile, Xavier Marin, President of TRAIL, highlighted Bahrain’s strategic position as a regional investment hub and confirmed plans to establish a TRAIL office in Manama to support future opportunities across the GCC.

Looking Ahead

More than an investment agreement, the partnership reflects a shared vision to unlock opportunities in high-growth industries while strengthening Bahrain’s position as a gateway for innovation, investment, and international collaboration in the region.

Labour Day placed Bahrain’s workforce in focus as the Kingdom joined countries around the world in recognizing the contribution of workers across public and private sectors.

Observed annually on May 1, Labour Day serves as an international occasion dedicated to acknowledging the role employees play in supporting economic growth, maintaining essential services, and driving national development. In Bahrain, the day was marked through official statements, workplace initiatives, employee appreciation activities, and public recognition campaigns across multiple industries.

Workers from sectors including healthcare, aviation, construction, hospitality, retail, education, logistics, finance, and public services were recognized for their continued contribution to the country’s operations and long-term progress. Organizations across Bahrain highlighted the importance of employee welfare, workplace safety, professional development, and productivity as part of the Kingdom’s broader economic vision.

The occasion also reflected Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its labor market through investment in training programs, workforce development initiatives, and opportunities aimed at supporting both local talent and industry growth. Government institutions and private companies continue to place emphasis on creating sustainable work environments while adapting to changes in technology, business operations, and global economic demands.

Labour Day remains significant not only as a celebration of workers, but also as a reminder of the role labor plays in shaping communities, industries, and national stability. Across Bahrain, the day highlighted the collective effort behind the country’s daily operations, from frontline personnel and technical specialists to office professionals and service teams working behind the scenes.

As Bahrain continues advancing economic diversification and infrastructure development projects, the contribution of its workforce remains central to the Kingdom’s future growth and competitiveness. The annual observance of Labour Day reinforces the value of dedication, resilience, and collaboration across every sector of society.
