Preserving the Pulse of a Nation: The Bahrain Heritage Sports Committee

4 minutes read

In a country known for its pearl-diving past, ancient souqs, and seafaring legacy, the Bahrain Heritage Sports Committee is working tirelessly to ensure that these traditions are more than just memories. Formed in 2018 by royal decree of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Committee is tasked with preserving, promoting, and evolving the Kingdom’s vibrant folk heritage through sport.

From camel races and falconry to pearl diving and traditional rowing, the Committee’s calendar of events is both a celebration and a living education. With Bahrain’s rapid modernisation, these initiatives remind younger generations of where their roots lie—while sharing Bahraini heritage with the world.
