Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience

Bahrain is no stranger to ambitious, futuristic projects — but its latest venture might be the most exciting yet for thrill-seekers and lifestyle enthusiasts. Construction is officially underway for Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience, a world-class wave pool development that promises to bring the surf culture of Hawaii to the heart of the Middle East.

Surf park broke ground in July 2025, with an opening date slated for early 2026. This landmark development marks a major step in Bahrain’s tourism and lifestyle diversification strategy, with a bold new focus on sport, recreation, and global surf culture.

What to Expect

Wavegarden Cove Comes to Bahrain

At the centre of the project is the Wavegarden Covecutting-edge wave pool technology from Spain, capable of producing up to 1,000 waves per hour. This high-capacity system can host up to 90 surfers simultaneously, with waves tailored to all skill levels — from total beginners to seasoned riders.

Wave tech: 52-module Wavegarden Cove system

Wave frequency: 1,000 waves per hour

Capacity: 90 surfers/hour

Size: 52,000 m² site footprint

Opening: Early 2026

This makes Bahrain Surf Park the first of its kind in the kingdom and one of only a handful of such facilities in the wider Gulf region — including Surf Abu Dhabi, which uses Kelly Slater Wave Co. tech.

More Than a Surf Spot

Bahrain Surf Park is designed to offer more than just waves. Marketed as the “Club Hawaii Experience,” it blends Hawaiian surf aesthetics with Middle Eastern hospitality and leisure. Think beachside dining, boutique retail, laid-back lounging, and cultural programming that celebrates both the birthplace of modern surfing and the emerging identity of Bahrain’s creative coastal scene.

The park will be neighbour to Tivoli Residences, a lifestyle-focused residential complex currently under development within Bilaj Al Jazayer. This positioning is intentional — creating a hub for leisure, sports, and tourism in one of Bahrain’s most promising new districts.

A Vision Backed by Leadership

The project is spearheaded by Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah), with support from key partners GFH Financial Group and construction firm Poullaides. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, HE Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa stated:

“Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience is a landmark initiative that reflects Bahrain’s vision to invest in innovative developments aimed at enhancing the tourism and entertainment sectors.”

This aligns with Bahrain’s Vision 2030, which aims to create a diverse economy through sustainability, investment in youth, and lifestyle-enhancing infrastructure.

Surfing in the Gulf? Yes — and It’s Growing

Though natural surf conditions in the Persian Gulf are rare, the region is increasingly embracing wave pool technology as a way to create new recreational experiences. With Surf Abu Dhabi already operational and WSL’s Abu Dhabi Pro scheduled for early 2026, Bahrain is riding the same wave of momentum.

According to sources close to the project, there are also plans to host an international surfing competition at the park within its first year of operation. This would position Bahrain as a legitimate contender in the global surf scene, despite its geographic limitations.

Sustainability in Mind

Wavegarden Cove technology is praised for its energy efficiency and water conservation, making it one of the most environmentally considerate options on the market. The Bahrain Surf Park team has made sustainability a key pillar of their development strategy, ensuring the facility aligns with the Kingdom’s broader environmental goals.

Why This Matters

The launch of Bahrain Surf Park isn’t just about creating waves — it’s about creating community. Surf culture, long synonymous with freedom, adventure, and self-expression, is a perfect fit for Bahrain’s increasingly dynamic youth demographic. It’s also a strategic move to attract regional and international tourists looking for unique experiences that blend sport with lifestyle.

Final Thoughts

Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience isn’t just a surf spot. It’s a cultural destination. Whether you’re paddling out for the first time, grabbing sunset drinks with friends, or attending a beachside music event, it’s shaping up to be one of the Kingdom’s most transformative projects.
