Bahrain delivered its best-ever performance at the West Asia Table Tennis Championships in Amman, Jordan, finishing first on the medal table after competition from August 12 to 19. The national squad collected 10 gold, six silver, and 10 bronze medals, with victories spanning boys’, girls’, men’s, and women’s events. Bahrain also recorded more gold medals than any other participating nation.
One of the tournament’s biggest moments came in the senior men’s team final. Bahrain fought back from 2-0 down to defeat hosts Jordan 3-2, successfully defending the West Asian team title won two years earlier. The future also looked bright, with both Under-13 singles finals becoming all-Bahraini showdowns, guaranteeing gold and silver in the boys’ and girls’ competitions. Bahrain sent 26 players to compete across team, singles, and doubles events.
From rising youngsters to experienced senior players, Bahrain’s record medal haul is another reason for the Kingdom to stand proud of its athletes and the growing strength of Bahraini sport.
